Hundreds of Pieces of Hope

I gasped with delight as I rounded the apse and suddenly caught sight of the western windows of the St. John’s Cathedral in Brisbane, Australia for the first time. The sun, depicted in the modern stained glass windows, shone brilliantly in the afternoon sun. God’s Son was beautifully brought to light in blue, red, yellow, white, purple, green, brown, and orange. My heart jumped with joy at the beauty; my soul opened widely with hope at the promise of the Beloved.

My prayer response:

Praise be to You, O Risen Son. May your beautiful reign be realized in me–and in all reality. Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus.

Biblical touchstones:

  • From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the LORD is to be praised.
    Psalm 113:3
  • …the servants of God will see God’s face… And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light… Revelation 22:4-5

Invitation to prayer:
What prayers are emerging in your heart, mind, and body?
Pray them now.
