The Spirit of God

Images of Mary and Jesus exist all over the world. This Easter Island statue depicts Mary’s enduring relationship with the Holy Spirit who stands on her head.

My prayer response:

Spirit of God, thank You for Your constancy in Mary’s life—and in mine. Your presence is a great comfort, encouragement, and hope.

Biblical touchstones:

  • The angel said to Mary, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. Luke 1:35
  • And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. Matthew 3:16
  • Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. Luke 2:25
  • Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? Psalm 139:7

Invitation to prayer:
What prayers are emerging from your heart, mind, and body?
Pray them now.
