I find a part of myself in each face of a disciple looking at Jesus’ wounds after the resurrection. Their proximity to his wound seems much more important than their various emotional reactions.
My prayer response:
God, help me to be present to the pain of this world with courage that opens into understanding and love.
…Later Jesus appeared to the eleven… Mark 16:14
Jesus himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24
But God has so arranged the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior member, that there may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it. 1 Corinthians 12:24-26
