Heaven and Earth: Creation at Chartres

I can think of the heavens and the earth as separate–or connected.
Medieval sculptors held all of reality together; I would like to also.

 My prayer response:

Creative One, may I understand more fully how connected
everything and everyone is.

Biblical touchstones:

  • In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
  • Jacob came to a certain place and stayed there for the night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place. And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, the top of it reaching to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. Genesis 28:11-12
  • The heavens are yours,God, the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it—you have founded them. Psalm 89:11
  • …through Jesus God was pleased to reconcile to Godself all things, whether on earth or in heaven,..Colossians 1:20

Invitation to prayer:
What prayers are emerging from your heart, mind, and body? Pray them now. Let them lead you where you need to go.

Creation of the world and humanity, beginning with the creation of the heavens and the earth closest to the ground.
