Vegetation (Day 3 of Creation at Chartres)

The power to create is full of potential. How wonderful that God wanted to share it so widely.

My prayer response:

For fruitfulness, I pray.

Biblical touchstones:

  • God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. Genesis 1:11-1

Vegetation created by God

  • …the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

  • Live as children of light— for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Ephesians 5:8-9

  • Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of God, and on God’s law they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. Psalm 1:1-3

Invitation to prayer:

Pretend that you are one of the plants or fruit in this image. Reach for the light.

What prayers are emerging from your heart, mind, and body? Pray them now.
Let them lead you where you need to go.
