Thistles

When burrowing into the flower of a thistle, it’s impossible for me to feel the sting of its prickles.

My prayer

Gardener of the World, may my fear of the prickly situations touching my life decrease as I discover and harvest the nectar that can nourish me and help the world.

Biblical touchstones

The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come… Song of Songs 2:12

They clothed Jesus in a purple cloak; and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on Jesus.  Mark 15:17

I am your servant; give me understanding… Psalm 119:125

Invitation to prayer

Bring to mind and heart a prickly situation that hurts. As you “look” at it with your imagination, can you find its flower?

What prayers are emerging in your heart, mind, body, and imagination? Pray them now.
