Praying with Stained Glass: The South Rose at Chartres (3)

The cup (of suffering and hope). The light (of the world). Blessing (from God’s hand). These thirteenth century images still have the power to touch my life. I bow my head as I honor the beautiful and terrible Mystery of God.

My prayer:

Thank You. Thank you for being the Light. Thank You for accepting the cup of suffering and for sharing its gifts. Thank You for the blessing of being in relationship with You and all You have created.

Jesus said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” Luke 22:20

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? 1Corinthians 10:16

Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Invitation to Prayer:

Look at the symbols in the circle above. What images, feelings, and intuitions do they bring to you today? What prayers are emerging in your mind, heart, body, and imagination? Pray them now.
