Circling Jesus in this rose window are eight angels with censors. My sense of smell is as holy as my sense of hearing, sight, touch, or taste.
My prayer:
May I know You with and through all of myself, including my sense of smell.
Biblical Touchstone:
Another angel with a golden censer came and stood at the altar; he was given a great quantity of incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that is before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel. Revelation 8:3-4 (NRSV)
Invitation to Prayer:
Remember the smell of incense in a church. As you let the memories that your nose received and created come forth, what prayers are emerging in your mind, heart, body, and imagination? Pray them now.
