Notre Dame de la Belle Verrière (1): Beauty

How do we recognize beauty? When I look at Our Lady of the Beautiful Window with Jesus on her lap, I feel a tenderness inside. That softness announces beauty’s presence.

My Prayer:

God, soften the hard places within that make it impossible for Your beautiful presence to fully inhabit my life.

Scriptural Touchstone:

Notre Dame de la Belle Verrière by Jill K H Geoffrion

I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; my soul is like the weaned child that is with me. Psalm 131:2 (NRSV)

Invitation to Prayer:

Gaze softly at the image of Mary and Jesus. What feelings does it bring up for you? As you continue to let the image speak to you, what prayers are emerging in your mind, heart, body, and imagination? Pray them now.
