A mother’s reach toward her child is a form of blessing, as this image shows. Holding on to her own identity (self) is a form of blessing too. This image inspires me towards balance.
My Prayer:
May I always share Love’s blessings with my children. May I always hold on to my sense of self as well.
Scriptural Touchstone:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 19:19 (NRSV)
Invitation to Prayer:
Gaze gently at the images of Mary, Jesus and Joseph in this twelfth-century nativity scene. Think about how you love and bless others. Consider how you love and bless yourself. What prayers are emerging in your body, mind, heart, and imagination? Pray them now.
