Love is communicated through touch, color, word, symbol, even fabric. Imagine the love baby Jesus felt wrapped up in Mary’s “veil,” held securely next to her warm body and beating heart.
God, Wrap me in Your love! Let me feel You close.
“God, Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning, for in you I put my trust.” Psalm 143:8 (NRSV)
Invitation to Pray:
Imagine yourself sitting on a bench outside the Chapel of the Heart of Mary in Chartres. Ask to be wrapped in God’s love today. Communicate your prayer with your body, mind, heart, voice, or imagination.
These images of the Veil of Mary were all taken at the Chartres Cathedral in France. The photo of the chapel that houses the veil (above) is found in the Preface of Visions of Mary: Art, Devotion, and Beauty at Chartres Cathedral (page xxi).
