Holy week in Chartres (6): Silence

Entombment of Jesus, The Passion Window at Chartres Cathedral (1145-55)

Holy Saturday is a day of silence,

Mary, Jesus’s Mother, gesturing with her thumb over her lips

a time to reflect, grieve, wonder,

Faces of those preparing Jesus’s body for burial

and quietly be present with the reality of Jesus’s absence from this world after his death.

Jesus, after his crucifixion

Scriptural Touchstone
